The dissolved oxygen is extremely important for the life and water quality maintenance since its availability is modified when the contaminator concentration, mainly organic, is higher than the fluvial course capacity in realizing assimilation and dilution. The present article aims to certify the efficiency of the dissolved oxygen as a quality pointer for the superficial waters and key parameter to hydro elements inclusion, CONAMA classification, Resolution 357/2005, having as a study the situation of the Sucuriú river basin in the city of Três Lagoas/MS. It was used the spectophometric method with local measurements, along the fluvial course, collected in thirteen places in the Sucuriú river course and its affluent. As a result, the excellent quality of its waters was confirmed and culminated with the high and medium basin course fitting, in this city, in the special class and low course in class 1.Downloads
