This study, developed in Tibagi river basin (TRB) in the State of Paraná, had the goal of determine the Water Quality Index (WQI) based on data of 11 fluviometric stations, registered in the National Water Agency to the years of 1987, 1991, 1997, 2001 and 2007. The basin was divided into 11 areas of drainage, each one with a fluviometric station as the lowest point of the drainage. The methodology used by IGAM and CETESB, adapted from the methodology developed by National Sanitation Foundation in 1970, was applied to the data of the stations in order to determine the WQI. Captation SAMAE station in Jacutinga municipality, with high industrial concentration in 1987 presented the lowest WQI (47). According to the used methodology, this station was considered qualitatively as bad. The highest WQI (89) was obtained in Bom Jardim (a1) station, and classified as good. This sub-area did not present lower classification in any period. In general, the obtained results suggested stability of WQI in TRB. Key words: Water Quality. Data Bank. National Water Agency.
