Contributions to Mathematics Practical Researcher Post-Graduation Professional Education

Abstract

This article reports on research results related to teacher education, in particular, in professional mathematics and science education masters degree programs. It aims to contribute to the meaning production about the expression “teacher research” and to the constitution of the “practical researcher” figure. The text analyses the discourse about education in Brazil; characterizes “teacher research”; analyses recent mathematics teacher production; establishes quality criteria; develops reflections on the formation of the mathematics professor/researcher; and proposes three research frameworks. One of them, the Interesting Model, has foundations in Social Constructivism, on principles of Ethnomathematics and Modeling, although it assumes a foucaultian conception about power/knowledge, both circularly related.
