Resumo

The interpretation of the cerrado vegetation with the aid of the Landsat imagery. The main objective of this research was the stablishement of interpretation criteria for the cerrado vegetation when analysed through Landsat imagery. For the two regions, one in the State of Goiás and the another one in the State of São Paulo, the interpretation criteria were studied with the aid of test areas an panchromatic photographs, transfered to Landsat images in the channels 5 and 7. The use of transmission densitometer avoided the personal criterion of interpretation. The results led to the following main conclusion: a) The interpretation and delineation of the cerrado vegetation was done with accuracy, in some cases with a efficiency of 97%; b) The precision of interpretation was higher in places of low interference, decreasing as increased the intensity of the landuse; c) The transmission densitometer and the variation of the “Ratioing Process” increased the efficiency and precision of the photointerpretative process.
