Forest fragmentation and islands of urban habitat
geossystems in mosaics and functional connectivities in Juiz de Fora (MG)

The central issue of this research is defined by the theme of forest fragmentation and connectivity. Considering the assertion that mosaic clusters create landscapes, it is possible that facies groups and classes can be considered units adhering to mosaics, since their clustering defines macrogeochores, a geosystemic hierarchy closest to the spatial notion of landscape. Thus, this article aims to qualitatively and quantitatively interpret forest fragmentation in Juiz de Fora, Minas Gerais, converging the geosystemic methodological approach with landscape ecology. The results indicate a spatiality with relative structural diversity, highly divided into mosaics of different sizes, shapes, and patterns of distance between them, generating connectivity provided by corridors predominantly in mosaics in more functional circuits
