Abstract

This paper presents the procedures and techniques for the genetic, physical and spectral characterization of the surface covers originated by weathering alteration in the Low Mojiana region, São Paulo State, Brazil. The study area corresponds to the MojiGuaçu Sheet, 1:50,000 scale. The cover were mapped using photo-interpretation on Landsat ETM+, band Pan. 54 points were surveyed in 39 units in field, in which 36 deformed samples were colected. Tests of physics of soils were accomplished in the field. Visible spectral behavior were analysed using a conventional digital camera in laboratory. The data were inserted in a geographical information system, the SPRING 4.3. Mechanical, chemical and spectral behavior, beyond genesis of the founded covers could be characterized by the applied procedures. The results allow to subsidize geoenvironmental studies and engineering projects.
