The fluidity of spaces-times
Abstract
Supported by more-than-representational assumptions, the epistemological reflection of this article seeks to characterize the fluid essence of experience. Starting from the idea that there are intersecting and heterogeneous planes of relationships involving human and non-human dimensions, the article problematize that our experience is an agglutination of very precise sections of geographic space and atomistic time. Such sections are called spaces-times. In addition to this problem, the idea defends that the fluidity of experience is given by the constant act of collision of temporal spaces contained in bodies-in-relationship. The critical terms of speculative realism are brought up, which mainly rest on the criticism of correlationism, a term used to refer to the set of principles that guide the relational turn. It is concluded, however, that relational approaches already include – or should include – the possibility of non-relational elements or potential links for establishing relationships impacting the affective-performative cycle that shapes the world.
