The Virola Jatobá Sustainable Development Project (PDS), located in the municipality of Anapu in southwest Pará, has faced invasions by illegal groups in recent years, significantly affecting the daily lives of the families living there. The rise in illegal activities within the rural settlement is connected to various social issues, including the irregular sale of plots of land. This study aims to explore how this irregular commercialization of plots in the Virola Jatobá PDS relates to the threats faced by agrarian reform beneficiaries in the settlement. Our methodology incorporates both primary and secondary data, collected through fieldwork, interviews with local farmers, photographic documentation, and bibliographic research, including articles, books, and legal proceedings, among other sources. The findings reveal that the commercialization of plots in the PDS is not a new issue; however, it has escalated in recent years among long-established PDS families, who have historically defended this land use modality. Currently, these families are experiencing ongoing threats, leading to the forced exodus of many from the Virola Jatobá PDS.
