Abstract

This review of literature paper discusses the role of the Dance as a body of knowledge that needs to be addressed at Physical Education classes. It is through a cultural approach that Dance is here valued as especially favored for the classes concerned. Because this is a relatively new approach and it still has being discussed on questionable assertions, we felt moved to write this paper, based upon the old assumptions of the Physical Education field. In which human body is here regarded not in exclusively biological terms, but also in its cultural implications. As we recognize the practical difficulties implied on this matter, we finish our analysis proposing a possibility of activities on the Dance in scholastic Physical Education situations with a cultural approach.
