Early swimming training and its effects on adult age.

Abstract

The objective of this study was to verify the effects of a high yield swimming program offered to children that began their training between 7 and 12 years old, and its consequences in the adult age. To reach the proposed ten swimming former athletes took part in the study. These persons were submitted to individual interviews semi-orientated. The results indicated that swimming training in early ages brings some incoveniences to the development of the individuals. The most citted by the former were: social isolation. rival1y. stress. free-time missing and others. However. all of them repeated the experience since they considered the period of extreme importance to their general formation, in respect to the determination. dedication, and excelling of obstacles.
