Body at school. Knowledge as creation. Anticartesian school practices.Abstract
This essay presents, through a methodology of bibliographic review and reflection on memories of lived experiences, a critique of the roles of bodies and their places of life in schools on the periphery of capitalism. The critique is based on reflection on the concepts of knowledge and the body, their origins and some developments. An intimate relationship between these concepts and oppressive structures of domination typical of modernity/coloniality/capitalism is presented. The first section shows intense links between the rational logic of mercantile production in capitalism and its imbrication, as cause and effect, with the Cartesian conception of knowledge and the body. In the sequence, the text seeks a kind of counterpoint to the initial idea and brings possibilities towards a radical change in the conception of knowledge and body. The second section also presents alternatives in the conception of what the decolonized school can be, which understands knowledge as a practice of freedom of bodies and the appreciation of their places of life. Finally, the third part focuses on showing examples of artistic and didactic practices in the classroom that are supported and inspired by the conceptual discussion presented above.
