The study sought to discuss and analyze different possibilities for teaching capoeira, in view of the characteristics of the teaching and learning process and the needs imposed by the internal logic of the game. Two angola capoeira master’s and 23 capoeira beginners participated in the study. The methodology used was strategic action research and the data analysis was performed using coding categories. Main results showed that technicist teaching favored the movements learning, but did not effectively contributed to the learning of the tactical elements present in the game. On the other hand, the proposal of teaching through games favored both the learning of the technical elements that make up the movements of capoeira as well as the tactical knowledge that constitutes the game. In conclusion, the results presented possibilities and relevant contributions regarding the use of the teaching proposal through games.
