This article aims to discuss the perceptions of teachers in the area of Science and Mathematics teaching about the profile of students who attend high school in this second decade of the 21st century and about the challenges experienced to teaching in this current scenario. For that, interviews were conducted with 25 teachers working at this level of education in the state of Santa Catarina. Among other aspects, we seek to understand how the dynamism of such a technological and immediatist world has modified student behavior and classroom routine. In our analysis, we use as theoretical references authors such as Serres (2013), Twenge (2018) and Desmurget (2021), who have been discussing the characteristics and behaviors of this new generation, as well as the influence of digital media on the way of life of these students. The main results point to the need to reframe the ways of teaching and learning within the classroom, in order to meet the demands of a new student profile, increasingly connected to digital technologies.
