The body as memory: between gestures, teaching gestures and actor gestures

This paper presents an excerpt from the master's dissertation in Teaching entitled “Inventing memories of teaching gestures”, developed between 2023 and 2025 at the University of Vale do Taquari (Univates), with support from the Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior (CAPES). The research is based on the following questions: how do we teach through teaching gestures? How do we turn the teaching gesture into an authorial and creative practice? Do we create gestures in teaching as an actor does in their practice? Based on the Foucauldian perspective of the archive and the archival procedures outlined by Aquino (2020), we sought to understand the teaching gesture in its aesthetic, ethical, and political dimensions. The research presents a brief approximation between the actor's gesture and the teaching gesture.Keywords: Actor's gesture. Teaching gesture. Archive.
